Marinette is a Petro lwa, meaning she is associated with more fiery, intense energy compared to the Rada lwa. Her connection to fire and untamed wilderness reflects her unpredictable and ferocious nature.

Marinette is often linked to the story of Haiti's revolutionary past, where she was invoked for her fiery spirit during the struggle for independence. Her energy is thought to have played a role in empowering enslaved Africans in Haiti to fight for freedom and justice.
